Ryan Adams - Easy Tiger

Its only 1 cd this year (so far) but Ryan Adams is back. He released Easy Tiger last week and I highly recommend everyone pick up a copy. The cd is amazing, its a blend of Alt Country, Folk and heartfelt Singer Songwriter. The cd starts off with "Goodnight Rose" a soulful and southern twang reminiscent of songs from Jacksonville City Nights. Track 2 features a duet with Sheryl Crow, no they are not dating but the two of them sound great together. Track 4 "Halloweenhead" is the most upbeat song and it took a few listens to really enjoy. On first listen I thought it was a joke but the beat draws you in and keeps your toes tapping. Yeah the lyrics are stupid at times but it wouldn't be the 1st time. Track 6 "Tears Of Gold" starts off with the slide guitar and settles in with a mid tempo country sound.

If you like the Alt Country side of Ryan Adams you will love this cd. If you prefer the acoustic sound there is plenty here for you to enjoy. The Americana influences are also back and although its not Cold Roses it does have a bit of the 60s. The dark and brooding seeps in here and there but is kept at bay to give the cd a more warm and summertime feel. The only thing not present is the Garage Rock sound, there are electric guitars but no screaming. This isn't my favorite Adams cd but it is very good and one I keep on my laptop and ipod for my listening pleasure.
