Warren Miller Playground

Last nite my buddy Chris and I went and saw the latest Warren Miller ski movie Playground. Since Jeep sponsors the event and my company does their advertising I was able to get on the guest list. It saved us $20 each which was nice since I have seen my full of ski movies over the years. I do enjoy them because they get you ready for the season but they tend to be the same thing over and over. This one took you to Dubai and inside their enclosed ski run. They also had clips of Alaskan heliskiing and resorts in Japan. I do have to say they upped the extreme skiing in this movie, there were just a few kids scenes and no dogs in bandanas which was always a staple in the past. Red Wings Advance

It took 2 OTs but the Wings beat the Flames last nite 2-1 to advance out of the 1st round of playoffs. This series was a brutal one, you had cheap shots galore including a backup goalie's suspension and fine. Game 5 had the backup coming in and within a minute tomahawk chopped a Red Wing and was ejected. I didn't stay up for the game last nite, I went to bed just hoping for the best since I spent the weekend digging up the yard for the new patio and was dead tired.
In other Detroit sports news, the Tigers won game 3 against the Chicago White Sox but lost the first 2. The Pistons won their 1st playoff game.

Palazzo di Bocce

Last nite we played indoor bocce at the Palazzo di Bocce in Auburn Hills down the street from the Palace. We went for a birthday party and had a blast. The facility has 10 indoor courts, full bar and a restaurant. Pricewise its a bit spendy but it was also something we have never done before. You start off by throwing the little silver pallino which has to make it about half way down the court. Then you have teams like shuffleboard and take turns throwing the bocce balls. You try to get as close as you can to the pallino and knock the other team out of the way. Most people have played lawn bocce and its the same but its a lot harder indoors. You have to be patient with your throws since the balls roll and roll and roll on the surface. If you are a fan of shuffleboard you will love this.

Zidane's Hit

If you missed it, here is a shot of Zidane headbutting the Italian player. Not sure what prompted the hit but both players were bantering back and forth after a play. Zidane should not have stayed cool but I imagine the other guy must have said something really bad to tick him off.

And Italy Wins It
Its over and Italy just won the World Cup in penalty kicks. Zidane got a red card for headbutting a player and was ejected. Lots of excitement but in the end Italy pulls it off. Oh well, it was fun to watch and give my co-workers a hard time. Now its back to baseball and the Detroit Tigers........

World Cup Madness
Well Its 1-1 right now between France and Italy for the championship. I had French Toast for breakfast along with my French Press Coffee with a little French Vanilla Creme. For lunch I had some French Fries, French Baguette and some French Bordeaux. Ok, maybe I didn't have all of that but Italy does not have any food named after them which is another reason why they suck. I will update the score after the game......
Update:
We are now in OT, and still tied 1-1. I gave it some thought and Italy does have a food and its Italian Ice. Not very exciting but at least they have one.

France Wins

France just beat Portugal 1-0 and are now on their way to the finals against Italy. Portugal and Germany play on Saturday for 3rd place and the finals are on Sunday. As I said all along, France are the true champions and will win the World Cup. I have a lot riding on this game, France you better not let me down.........

I mean no disrespect to Italy but they just beat Germany 2-0 in the 2nd OT and it sucks. I wouldn't mind Italy if it wern't for a few characters at work who will be gloating tomorrow over the win. We will have to hear all day long how Italy did the unthinkable and beat the host country, how Italy is the best etc.Tomorrow France plays Portugal and it would bring me great joy if they win then crush Italy in the finals. At that time I will be able to trash talk all day and laugh at their pain.....

World Cup Update

France beat Brazil the other day in the world cup to advance to the semi finals. They will play Portugal on Wednesday and Italy will play Germany tomorrow. I will come out and admit it, I'm not a big soccer fan, I do like it more than football but I don't follow it religiously. I do like to antagonise my friend Nasir at work who supports Italy. The last few weeks have been horrible at work, between Nasir and a few others all you hear is how great Italy is and how they are going to win. Well folks, it ain't gonna happen, France is going to win it all. Brazil was my team til the other day, but they lost I am now rooting for France. See when you don't pay attention to the sport you can bounce from team to team without any worries and guilty conscience. Mark my words, Italy will lose tomorrow to Germany and they in turn will be upset by France in the Finals.
