What's Coming In 2007 (Detroit)

Here is a sketch of the new MGM Casino that should be finished late 2007. The Riverwalk between Hart Plaza and Belle Isle is close to completion and should be done next year. Upscale condos will be going up along the river starting in the summer. Campus Martius will be expanded and Rock Financial will move people downtown to the Compuware building to see if a downtown headquarters could work. The hotel portion of Motorcity Casino will be completed and work on the Greektown has started. The Cobo expansion may start next year and Metro airport's North Terminal is under construction and planned for a 2008 opening. Driving around town, more restaurants and bars have opened over the last year and the city is still clean after the pre SuperBowl pickup. There are other renovations in the works but most are still in the talking phase. Detroit has turned a corner and I can't wait for some of these projects to finish. Too bad we didn't have the hotels finished for the Superbowl but in 2008 we have the Final Four so there will be plenty of out of towners looking for a place to stay.
