Pitchfork's Top 50
Sunday, December 31, 2006
Well it has happened again, Pitchfork and I have made our top of for the year and had no shared releases. I almost added Sonic Youth's "Rather Ripped" which made Pitchfork's but cut it out at the last moment. The pretentious indie wankers over at Pitchfork had some good music selected but then there was some I just shook my head over. I have a number of the cds listed and some of them were very good but they didn't impress me enough to include them. If I would have made mine 50 albums then there might have been a few more. I do love poking fun at Pitchfork, if something sells more than 100 copies they trash it. Reading them reminds me that although I am a pretentious indie wanker to my friends, they are still light years ahead of me. Take a moment and see how many releases you have or have heard of below....

I'd love to see your own list though, and looking forward to sharing space with you on the Record Room.
the pretentious indie community was all into Ace Of Bass last year, it was cool to like crap from the 90s. problem is, the indie kids were too young to really understand how bad it was the 1st time let alone the 2nd time around. these indie wankers need someone like LCD soundsystem to give them something to dance to, which is not really dance music anyways. they want to shake their booty but those trucker hats, skinny ties and backpacks make it hard to do so.
I dislike the amount of power they have ... it really is amazing to see how much effect they have on what's popular in indie communities. It has been interesting to see that, with the rise of blogs, Pitchfork is not always in line with the indie community.
I actually really like Justin Timberlake and would say he's cool now because he's making better music with better producers. I think over the past few years, pop music has gotten significantly better - thanks mostly to Timbaland and the Neptunes - and Pitchfork has really been at the front of recognizing that.
Oh, and I love LCD Soundsystem.
Sorry for the long comment and I am way glad you've joined us over at the Record Room.
