Its that time again, time to check out another Zinfandel from California. This one is from the Karly vineyard in Amador County, CA. This wine is young and has the characteristics of an obnoxious teenager. You have a great bouquet of fresh berries and a sweet and juicy beginning. After the 1st taste the wine turns dark and unleases some heavy tannins. The zin is both succulent and tart with a bit of spice finishing it all off. This wine is young and will no doubt smooth out with age but is also enjoyable at its current state. What most people like about Zin the peppery flavor and the in your face plumpness is all here. It does lack in the finish though but should improve in time. Pricewise you are looking at $13 a bottle which is pretty cheap when it comes to good Zin.
