eMusic crosses 100M mark
Thumbs up to eMusic, who've managed to pass the 100 Million download mark (all without DRM!) and congratulations to Michael Brennan, the lucky customer who downloaded that milestone track.
As promised earlier, the Barenaked Ladies will write and record a track all about Michael Brennan, which will then be packaged as a bonus track for the upcoming album, "Barenaked Ladies Are Men." The track will also be available as a free download for a period in January as part of eMusic's celebration.
...................................
Way to go eMusic, I know its not 1 billion downloads that some other stores have reached but its a landmark. I have downloaded a variety of singles and full cds for a total of at least 900 tracks if not more. If I were to buy all the songs at iTunes I would be spending between $850-$900 since full cds are at $9.99 and may have more than 10 tracks. Instead I have spent $268 and have a great selection of music to show for it. I have been a member of eMusic since Sept 2004 and plan on keeping my subscription alive as long as they keep building their catalog.
The winner above receives a lifetime account with eMusic and will be the subject of a Bearnaked Ladies song. The 1st part I would love to have, the 2nd, well not as much.
