Princess Cruise Day 6

Today we docked in Bergen, Norway one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen.  The city is built up into the mountains with very colorful houses dotting the landscape.  The city itself has lots of old world charm, wooden and cobblestone streets throughout.  Bergen gets on average 300 days of rain so it is lush and green.  It sprinkled multiple times while were in port but it was warm enough that it didn't matter.

I would like to thank my friend Jonathan for playing tourguide for us, it made for a very memorable trip.  He took us around some of the historic portions of the city and to the best coffee shop in town.  We stopped at the fish market where we tasted smoked whale and smoked salmon.  The whale was interesting a bit like venison but when you are amongst the locals you must do what the locals do.  From there we checked out a sports store for a soccer jersey but it came out to $100 so I decided against it.  We then made our way to a local wine tasting where Jonathan knew the wine distributer.  We had some amazing whites but had to run so we could meet his girlfriend for lunch.  They took us to this great little italian market/restaurant where we had an excellent lunch.  We had some chocolate imported from Italy which was incredible.  By now it was close to the time to get back to the boat so we headed back to our shuttle.  We stopped and both Erika and I bought traditional Norwegian wool sweaters the ones you always see in ski shops that sell for hundreds of dollars.  We got a great deal on them so we couldn't resist.  Tomorrow is a sea day and Sunday we stop in Amsterdam.
