Late Harvest

Last nite Erika and I opened up a late harvest chardonnay from Epiphany Cellars. It was a 1997 that I picked up from the Red Wagon's moving sale, I got it for 30% off. The wine was excellent, it was very thick with hits of honey and apricot with a long finish. We had it with some creme brule and raspberry sauce, a last minute decison when we ran to Trader Joes 5 minutes before it closed. Being a dessert wine, its already very sweet but this one was well balanced. It was not over the top and I think anyone who is anti-dessert wine would enjoy this one. Being a chardonnay grape, it will not be as sweet as those made with semillon, sauv blanc, riesling or gewurztraminer.
