Happy Mondays - Uncle Dysfunktional

Its time to take a trip back in time, back to an era where Brit Rock was good and music could be both frivolous and serious. One of the greatest party bands the Happy Mondays imploded under the excessive use of drugs and alcohol but have resurfaced to take us back to those late nite Acid House parties. If you are not familiar with the Monday's they were nothing special, no amazing singing or deep, introspective lyrics. They were all about the good time and it came thru in the music. The baggy beats got your feet going and kept you feeling good all nite long. Shaun Ryder talked his way thru songs and confused most people with his ramblings. After the Monday's broke up, Ryder formed Black Grape which released 2 amazing cds that distanced themselves from the Manchester sound. The hazy, head sound of the early Monday's is back but it is cleaned up a bit and takes on more of the Black Grape, funky and electronic rhymes. Some songs are solid while others are less than cohesive but this is expected if you have followed the Monday's career. Nothing will ever be as good as Bummed and Pills, Thrills & Bellyaches but its nice to have a blast from the past from a band who created the sound and not some bunch of kids just trying to emulate it. Check out the new cd and I think you will be pleasantly suprised.
