Newton Chardonnay 2005
Monday, July 30, 2007
It wasn't the Talbott 2001 Chardonnay from a couple weeks ago but this Newton was another tasty one that I would pick up again. You can find this bottle between $17-$22 depending where you go. It had a great nose, lots of fruit and citrus but not so heavy on the oak. For some this would be a plus since the over oaked chards have fallen out of favor. It was rich and buttery with lots of apple and melon flavors. You had a nice finish with fruit lingering for a few more seconds.
Newton Vineyards is in California nestled between Napa and Sonoma. The grapes come from both appellations and is reflected on the bottle. I have added this vineyard as a must visit next time I am out in wine country.
