Chateau du Perier
Tuesday, November 14, 2006
I just opened a bottle of Chateau du Perier a 2003 Bordeaux from the Medoc region. On inital opening, it had a great nose, lots of black cherry. I let it sit for a few to open up and the dark, plum flavors came out in full force. You have some fruit up front and smoke filling out the finish. The tannins are soft but a bit lingering. This was a 50/50 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot but no Cab Franc or other blending grape.
The last few bottles have been French so I will try and get back to something else. I have an Italian red from the Piedmont region that may be next.
