Making Publicity At Others Expense

Brandon Flowers has criticised Green Day for what he sees as their calculated anti-Americanism.

"You have Green Day and 'American Idiot'. Where do they film their DVD? In England," The Killers' frontman told The Word. "A bunch of kids screaming 'I don't want to be an American idiot' I saw it as a very negative thing towards Americans. It really lit a fire in me." The singer added he felt the DVD was a bit of a a stunt.

"I just thought it was really cheap," he explained. "To go to a place like England or Germany and sing that song - those kids aren't taking it the same way that he meant it. And he [Billie Joe Armstrong] knew it."

The Killers' frontman said he believed that his band's new album 'Sam's Town' is a much better representation of America.

"People need to see that, really, there are the nicest people in the world here!" he declared. "I don't know if our album makes you realise that. But I hope it's from a more positive place."

Hey thank you Brandon for letting us know that your record is more American than Green Day and that you are the new poster child for Patriotism in Alternative Music. I have never read anything that was more of a blatant rip on a band just to boost your own image. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to understand what Green Day's record is really about.

Maybe Karl Rove is helping Brandon promote his latest cd, he is using the same techniques the republicans use to paint their enemies as terrorist loving sympathizers. I have never been a fan of The Killers and this is one more reason for me to hate them.

does that jackass think he's Mr. American Patriot just because he dresses like Colonel Sanders? He should focus more on fried chicken than music and patriotism, jerk.

Randy... Maybe Mr. Flowers should be more like Oasis. They would never say shit about other bands.

I'll still listen to The Killers any day before Green Day.
