In what has got to be one of the oddest business proposals ever, LaLa.com and WOXY.com are now in negotiations to resurrect the indie online radio station. Last week LaLa founder Bill Nguyen made a post on the WOXY messageboard with the title, “White Knight”:

Hey folks, we’d like to save woxy. You can learn more about us at lala.com, but we’re very well funded and humbled by the great work the people here have done. Please tell the fab four at woxy to contact us.

Most people (including former WOXY staffers) assumed it was a hoax, however over the next few days it became clear that Nguyen meant business. WOXY now says that a deal is being brokered today and that the station could be back online as early as next week. And if that wasn't great enough, WOXY also says that the streams will be three times higher sound quality and free!

For those of you who don't know, LaLa.com is a great new cd-trading service which works like this: You list the cds you have which you'd like to trade away and the cds you're looking to acquire. When a match is found, the site alerts you that the CD is on its way to you for only $1.75. When a CD you have is requested, you simply slip it into one of the pre-paid mailers and send it off. LaLa even gives artists 20% of their revenues from the transfer of CDs.
