The Posies are back with a new cd, its been a while for these lads. Their new cd, Every Kind of Light is amazing, lots of expertly crafted guitar pop from the masters of the genre. Some of the songs are heavier than Solar Sister and Dream All Day but they still maintain that element of Posies and what they stood for. During their break, Ken Stringfellow toured with R.E.M. and Jon Auer put out a couple solo cds and both of them reformed Big Star with Alex Chilton. If you are familiar with the band the Minus 5, well that is a side project for Ken and Scott McCaughney which has released a few cds. Both Jon and Ken are very talented and have released a number of things outside the Posies but I feel their best work was together. Good news for all you fans, they are coming to Detroit this fall, they will be playing the Magic Stick Oct 4th I believe. I cant wait til the show, I saw them in Kalamazoo back in 92 and it was a great show. Son Volt, Bob Mould and Bloc Party with the Kills are all coming, too many shows and I can only go to 2 of them. The Posies is one and I am torn on the other.
