Supreme Court
Monday, May 16, 2005
Well its about time, the Supreme Court ruled in the common folks for a change and struck down the practice of state barring out of state wine shipments bought over the internet. There are 24 states that bar shipments, Michigan and New York were 2 states that were part of this hearing. Both states have a number of vineyards in state and those are allowed to sell over the internet. This may change if the states get their way, they may rule that instate wineries cannot sell over the internet and this levels the playing field. This screws everyone and just puts more money into the Distribution Lobby which are the ones fighting this. I am not holding my breath to buy quite yet, it may take a couple months but if so, I will be a happy camper.
