Napster's new service

Here's the lowdown on the Napster To Go service that will be airing in commercials over the Super Bowl. For $14.95 you can download unlimited amounts of music to your mp3 player (mind you, every player on the market except the ipod) and listen as much as you want. The fine print tho, you need to be a Napster subscriber which is $9.95 a month for unlimted streaming, (no burning) so Napster functions as a 1,000,000 song jukebox. So for $25 a month u can stream and download to your player but you need to maintain this subscription or all your music disappears. Not sure how this works, say u load your player with stuff and then cancel and never sync your handheld up again, I guess its yours but it will stay on your handheld until u delete it. So this sounds pretty cool, but then you are talking $300 a year to lease music that u cannot share. Now with the numbers up front, does it sound like a good deal? I don't think so, its still .99c a song $9.99 a cd to download and burn just like itunes. Napster claims to offer cheaper cds but not sure if they are any that we would want.

Maybe this will kick itunes into doing something like this, without the initial monthly subscription fee. I could handle $15 a month for leasing music, that could be pretty cool but $25 is too much. Keep this in mind when you start hearing about the new Napster To Go.....
