A Place Not To Live

I was listening to NPR today and they had a segment on the new religious hotspot in the US and it is Colorado Springs. This city is home to a number of new religious right political action groups and ministries. Back in the 80s young men headed out west to start new churches and settled in Colorado Springs. The pastor of an 11,000 member congregration said that it is the US answer to Jerusuleum and Mecca. They are now running for office and dictating their agenda in all aspects of life. One good thing to know, the start of the Darwin fish car stickers originated here by a local who is sick and tired of what has been happening to his city. It was a pretty scary report, and you think Salt Lake is bad, this is even worse. Next time you receive some obnoxious political mailing with hints of religion check to see where it came from, chances are it's this town.
