d’Arenberg The Hermit Crab Viognier Marsanne

Tonight I opened a bottle of d’Arenberg The Hermit Crab Viognier/Marsanne blend with some frozen Costco Mahi and Cuban style rice. I have had a few different bottles from d'Arenberg and enjoyed all of them. If you are looking for a good Aussie wine, look for this label over some of the usuals. This is by no means a small boutique brand, d'Arenberg has been around for close to 100 years.

The wine itself is a few shades lighter than many chards but still has a light golden color. Favorwise, this wine is plump full of fruit with hints of sour apple and pineapple. The plush flavor is not overpowered by any oak and with the tropical fruit has a lingering sweet finish. Don't think of this as a dessert wine, it's not that sweet but it can cut thru spicy dishes and pairs well with seafood.
