Little James' Basket Press

Ed at Simply Wine just got this wine in and wanted me to try it. The bottle is from France but you would have never guessed from the crazy label. There is no traditional chateau or ton of information that confuses more than tells you whats in the bottle. Anyways this is a 100% Grenache from Chateau de Saint Cosme located in the southern Rhone region. The wine is very jammy with a plum red colour. It starts off fruity but then a bit of pepper kicks in and finishes with some nice tannins on your tongue. Its great table wine and is a blend of both young Grenache and older vines. Due to the region and the style it does not have a vintage (NV) but from what I have gathered on the net, it probably came from 2003. After warming up a bit to room temp, this wine has opened up a bit and has more flavor and backbone than first thought.
