Just Opened A 2005
Friday, October 06, 2006
I just picked up a 2005 Bordeaux from Chateau Du Pavillon, a small vineyard on the right bank of the Gironde. Its a blend of 80% merlot and 20% cabernet sauvignon with a great nose and lots of fruit up front. Although its still young and high tannins, the finish lingers on your tongue with some oak and pepper. I can see this wine aging well and will definitely add the 2005 vintage to my collection.
Everyone is raving about the 2005 vintage, some saying its better than the 2000 and 2003. Pricewise, this bottle has gone up $3 from from 2003 and 2004. If you are interested in this bottle you can find it at Simpley Wine in Birmingham for $13.
