Dry Creek

I just opened a bottle of Dry Creek's 2004 Fume Blanc last nite and was pleasantly suprised. Its a dry Sauvignon Blanc with lots of mineral and a crisp bite. Price wise, its about $13.50 a bottle, cheaper than a Sauv Blanc from New Zealand. Its made in the tradition of a Sancerre, a white Sauv Blanc coming from the Loire Valley in France. Dry Creek can be found in Healdsburg which lies in Sonona County towards the north. They do make a great Chenin Blanc that I had a couple years ago but other than that I havn't had any other of their wines. The Zins are pretty reasonable $15 a bottle, I would like to try one to see how they compare against Bogle, Rancho Zabaco, Ravenswood and Cline in the same price range.

Summer's almost over and I will be switching to more reds. I will still drink whites throughout the fall and winter but I will focus on reds probably Italian. I know the least amount about Italian reds so its time for me to start learning. I will sneak in a Bordeaux, Rhone and Napa Valley every so often but I will try and stick to my plan. I will keep the reviews coming so you can learn with me......
