Its Microsoft vs Apple this christmas. Microsoft has announced they will have the ipod killer along with its own music service Urge. This new device will play both music and video and is rumored to be wireless for over the air purchases. Microsoft has also announced it plans on picking up the tab for purchased music thru iTunes, they will give you the music from their store for free just for switching to their product. Whether any of this stuff is true or if Microsoft can actually release something on time is the real question. Vista the new operating system has been delayed more times than one can count so I am not banking on an actual device. If they do pull it off, will it be as easy to use? Will their store carry the same music? Will they get artists to do exclusive online only songs like iTunes has done?
Apple always refreshes its ipod lineup twice a year, we have had 1 so far but not the 2nd. They may be holding out til xmas to come out with a new video ipod. If so this may just screw Microsoft over big time. Its going to be an interesting next 6 months in the world of digital music.
