What War On Terror?

So when our president talks about how good our economy is and that outsourcing is a great thing, lets remind him that we are at war and giving security over to an arab country is not in our best interest. If you are not up to speed on this one, Bush wants to turn port security of the nation's 6 largest ports over to a company based out of Dubai in the U.A.E. I have nothing against the company, they protect other ports around the world and I really don't think they would employ terrorists but come on, lets get real. Besides security concerns there is the little term called Outsourcing, we have people losing jobs every day and we want to have a foreign company provide security? I thought that was what Homeland Security was for, but I guess I didn't get the memo that they are just there to raise the terror warning.

So now we have dems on board who are introducing legislation to block this from happening. With all the tough talk about terrorism and the economy the prez is turning around and selling off our assets to the highest bidder.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Two U.S. Democratic senators said on Friday they would introduce legislation aimed at blocking Dubai Ports World from buying a company that operates several U.S. shipping ports because of security concerns.

Robert Menendez of New Jersey and Hillary Clinton of New York said they would offer a measure to ban companies owned or controlled by foreign governments from acquiring U.S. port operations.

"We wouldn't turn the border patrol or the customs service over to a foreign government, and we can't afford to turn our ports over to one either," Menendez said in a statement.

P&O, the company Dubai Ports World plans to buy for $6.8 billion, is already foreign-owned but the concern is that the purchaser is backed by the United Arab Emirates government.
