Welcome Majority Leader Boehner

Upset: DeLay's #2 fails to succeed him; Boehner named Majority Leader of House

Rep John Boehner has succeeded Rep. Tom DeLay as Majority Leader in the House of Representatives in a major upset for DeLay's #2 by a vote of 122-109.

Blunt led in the first ballot but lose after votes from a third contender transferred more heavily to Boehner.

The first ballot to replace former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX) was invalidated after the vote tally included more congressmembers than were eligible to vote.

In the first balloting, Blunt received 110 votes, Boehner got 79 and Shadegg of Arizona had 40, according to congressional aides. Shadegg withdrew.

What is really funny about this whole thing, there had to be a 2nd vote since there were more votes than congress members. The republican scumbags even cheat in their own election. Boehner is part of the old guard so don't expect many changes since he is also "tainted" by Abramoff, just not as much as Blunt. Stewart and Olbermann are going to have a field day with this one.
