Wine Shipping in Michigan Update

Wine Shipping in Michigan Update: A fresh new year awaits, and what are people talking about? The new Michigan wine shipping law, but also Michigan vodka, Michigan Pinot Noir and Left Foot Charley. The big shipping question is this: When will out-of-state winery Web sites (listen up, California) add MI to their list of legal states? According to Ken Wozniak, director of executive services for the Michigan Liquor Control Commission, it will probably happen as soon as they apply for a shipper’s license (cost: $100) and the MLCC gets its ducks lined up on exactly how a shipper should proceed. Wozniak said the MLCC has fielded inquiries from California wineries, as well as Washington state and one from the East. But to date, nobody has applied. He was hopeful the state would have its procedures finalized in the next 30 days. http://info.detnews.com/wine/columns/silfven/details.cfm?id=324
Last week before the new year I had called Rutherford Hills out in Napa but they are just as clueless as the lawmakers here in MI. I hope things get straightened out soon because I am out of Zinfandel Port and would like another bottle. Buying wine of the net isn't cost effective, it will just be for those bottles that you cannot find anywhere else or for wine clubs. There are few in Napa that I think would be cool to join but I need to price it out to see if its really worth it or not.
