The Stones In Trouble

I just read an article regarding the new Rolling Stones cd that slams the Bush administration and it talked about will the conservatives Dixie Chick the Stones? I can see this happening but not to the extent of the Dixie Chicks, The Stones have a broader audience and are not central to one genre of music. Everyone claims influence from them and their music is on more than one station. People who have followed the Stones will ignore the new record if they choose but they will never give up on the back catalog no matter how much they disagree. The Dixie Chicks were easier to give up on, they had only been around for a limited number of years and although they were popular did not have a large influence over country music. Without the Stones, its impossible to think what music would be like. I saw Mick Jagger and Keith Richards on CNN this morning discussing the line in question and Mick said it wasn't an attack just on Bush it was an attack on the republican idology that has taken over the party. Both of them were downplaying the song and saying its not that big of a deal, which I agree, you cannot put Rage Against The Machine and the Stones in the same sentence when it comes to political rants. I havn't heard the cd yet, I hope this song blends in with the rest and they don't release this as the 1st single.
