Chumeia Pinot Noir

I just opened this bottle yesterday and it is great, I just finished a glass before typing this. I got the bottle from Simply Wine in Birmingham, yeah they opened a 2nd store the 1st still in Ferndale. Ed the owner recommended this one and I have to tell ya, he knows what he is talking about. Its a $15 pinot noir from California that will knock your socks off. I am a big fan of Oregon pinots but they tend to be pricey so I don't get them all the time. New Zealand pinots are good but still a little thin so the next best thing is California. You can still get some expensive pinots from Napa but look elsewhere for excellent wines and great prices.

"This Pinot Noir is very deep and dark with more concentration than the previous vintage. This wine will take some time to unwind in the glass, but when it does, look out and hold on!"

Winemaker Lee Nesbitt

Winemakers Notes: Pinot Noir can be a very challenging to make, let alone make well. We feel that the initial selection of quality fruit makes a winemakers life easier. Such was the case with this Pinot Noir. Primary fermentation was monitored for 14 days at 80f. Gentle, cold pressings followed to ensure finesse in the wine. The wine was barrel aged in one year old French oak for 14 months. Cooperage included Damy, Cadus and Remond.
Year: 2003
