Dashboard

Dashboard, one of the new features of OS X 10.4, Tiger. This is a great new tool, tons of widgets can be downloaded and deployed on your computer. These widgets range from weather, stock tickers, clocks, translations, traffic reports, gas prices, cpu processes, rss feeds, sticky notes etc. You can download as many as you want and there are new ones being developed everyday. I grabbed a few that gives me traffic reports in my area, cheapest gas prices and cpu monitoring. There are tons of others that I have tried but deleted because they sucked but thats the beauty of it, download for free, dont like delete. Another cool feature is spotlight which gives you access on your desktop to the most powerful search ever. You can type the name of any file and is shows you where its it. Loading Tiger was easy, stick the dvd in and 45 minutes later you are done. Its a pretty big update, about 2 gigs in size but its well worth it. There are a ton of other features but those are the 2 that I have played with the most. For you pc users, you can also have widgets, there is a company that makes them and they are pretty cool.

It contains both pc and mac widgets and these are a bit different than the dashboard, they sit on top of your desktop rather than hide like the dashboard. Both have their pros and cons and I am still trying to figure out which ones I like the best.
